Are goalkeeper's wrapped in too much cotton wool?

It would seem the 'Health and safety' fans have had their say on what happened on Sunday. As a neutral fan I have to say it looked like something that happens in football all the time, two players clashed! It happens in Sunday League games as well as the very top of the professional game; it happens in most sports but for some reason footballers are not allowed to get hurt!

It just shows you in this day and age how the players are treated; they're grown men for crying out loud! Believe it or not if you cut them they bleed just like the rest of the human race!

Goalkeepers are a special type of player; diving at a forward's feet when he is running at ten to fifteen miles an hour is just not normal! They dive around on muddy and hard surfaces and yes they survive! It was like watching a pantomine on Sunday; just sponge him down and get on with it.

Footballers should be removed from play if they lose consciousness, say the world players' union Fifpro and the Professional Footballers' Association.

Tottenham keeper Hugo Lloris was allowed to carry on after being knocked out in Sunday's 0-0 draw with Everton.

"If anyone suffers severe trauma to the head and loses consciousness, they should be required to leave the field," said the PFA's John Bramall.

FA guidelines o

Lloris briefly lost consciousness after colliding with striker Romelu Lukaku late on in the match at Goodison Park and was assessed on the pitch before continuing.

I understand every player is an asset to the club but it was a slight knock to the head; it's not like he clashed with heavyweight boxer David Haye even though Lukaku is built like a well armed tank.

Below is quick look at what Spurs fans said from https://tottenhamlive.com/news/1006-lloris-lukaku-incident.html

Twitter was at the epicentre of the debate. Here’s what you said…

@kevingearing “I was knocked unconscious twice on Rugby League pitches and stayed on both times. Can't believe this Lloris furore, world's gone soft.”

@TalkingTHFC “Playing like Lloris does is always gonna pose risk. He must have taken knocks before and will certainly take them again. Unit. #COYS”

@SpursFunnies “Lloris Fact: Hugo Lloris wears a helmet when he rides a bike to protect the ground from his head. #LlorisBeast”

@FootyHumour “Hugo Lloris was like a drunk person trying to prove they're not drunk.”

@Dave_Holness “This Lloris saga is actually sicking me. If my kid ever comes off the football pitch after a bump on the head he's straight up for adoption.”

@CharlieGBruce “We moan that players don't "play for the shirt", give Lloris credit for wanting to play on!!”

@misscarroll1 “Everyone knows that footballers need to man up, then when Lloris actually does everyone slates spurs for keeping him on!!! #MakeYourMindUp”

@davewebb1988 “Hugo Lloris- The man chose to carry on depsite AVB's concerns. Not Spurs fault. Move on Sky Sports News, we don't care. #notnews”

At the end of the day it's a mans game and yes injuries happen but this is such a storm in a teacup.
