Does Arsene still believe in the youngsters and do the fans still believe in Arsene? By Gregg Halsey
For many years Arsene Wenger has told the board, his rivals, the press and THE FANS about the squad or team of the future based around all these young players he had been purchasing from around the globe.
Players like Robin Van Persie, Cesc Fabregas, Emmanuel Eboue, Gael Clichy, Theo Walcott, Carlos Vela, Nicklas Bendtner, Denilson to name a few of which most have left the club or currently on loan elsewhere!
Back in December Wenger got five current youngsters to sign contract extensions with Kieran Gibbs, Carl Jenkinson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Aaron Ramsey and of course the ‘FUTURE’ of English football Jack Wilshere all signing up to stay at the club and become the next version of Wengers dream.
But how long can the fans of Arsenal football club keep sitting back and watching youngsters come in, show potential and then be sold for massive sums of money which either ends up back in the pockets of the board members, sits in the bank account awaiting to be spent or is spent on players who are over the hill or just don’t live up to the hype!
Every day on Facebook and Twitter I read tweets and status updates from disgruntled fans including celebrities such as Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) “Heroic though that performance was, fact remains we’re out of 3 competitions and struggling to make 4th in Prem > Wenger’s worst season” – After being knocked out the Champions League..
I’m not an Arsenal fan, not by a long shot, in fact I believe a lot of their fans are very plastic and fickle; one minute it’s ‘Wenger out,’ next minute they all support him as they got a result over one of the other big clubs or their arch rivals Spurs, but I do feel sorry for them at times and the frustration they must feel every time they get knocked out of another trophy or Spurs are above them in the League; they must all be on knife’s edge of rage yet no change is made!
You are paying Walcott a fortune, and your ‘FUTURE’ of English football can barely stay fit enough to play six months solid before hitting yet another injury!
Where do you go from here Arsenal?
Do you still have faith in Wenger and his youth plans?
Do you need to sign proven players who can produce in the League but also still have miles on the clock to use?
Are Wilshere and Walcott really going to carry you to a trophy anytime soon?
As I type this it’s been officially 7 years, 9 months, 20 days, 4 hours, 19 minutes and counting since an Arsenal fan watched their captain lift a trophy!

Former glories won’t keep the fans coming back if you can not produce value for money at your massive stadium, which in recent years has been more like a library!
Sometimes I feel Arsene Wenger needs a kick in the balls.
