Reading Manager Vacancy: the choices.‏

Just thirty four days ago Brian McDermott received his Manager of the month award and how proud he looked. This week he got the sack and even worse it was by text!
The early front runners are all household names and most have managed in the top flight before.

Paulo di Canio is the bookies favourite despite never having a job as Manager of a Premier League club. It would be a risk but at this time in the season risks have to be taken. I'm not sure if the Italian would get on with the board; money appears to be tight which is what McDermott had to contend with.

Another man high on the list is former Wales Manager Mark Hughes. He knows the Premiership well having managed Manchester City and Fulham as well as Blackburn Rovers. His most recent job was at Queens Park Rangers where he had a horrid start to the season and was shown the door after twelve games; the West London Club had taken four points from a possible thirty six! Maybe a case of Reading jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire!

Alex McLeish is also in the frame and again the question has to be why? Successful in his native Scotland with Rangers but in the EPL he has failed! He took Birmingham City down and tried to do the same with Aston Villa! I really would avoid him if I were the board at Reading.

The final candidate for the job is a man that could well save the club from going down; Alan 'Curbs' Curbishley. A great track record and a man eager to get his teeth back into management.
Our advice would be either take a chance on Di Canio or a safer bet is Curbs.  If you go for one of the other two you might as well give your fans a kick in the balls.
