Who will Newcastle, Spurs and Chelsea draw in the next round?
Europa League quarter finalists that British clubs can face: Benfica, Lazio, Basel 1893, Rubin Kazan, Fenerbahçe
All three British teams just about got through to the quarter finals of the Europa League after tough battles. Spurs needed an away goal while both Chelsea and Newcastle relied on late goals. The European Champions could even afford to miss a penalty by Fernando Torres!
Of course at this stage of the competition the Premier League sides can come up against each other or if the draw and the results go the right way it could be an all England Final!
Tottenham looked a bit lost without 'man of the moment' Gareth Bale who sat the game out after picking up a yellow card in the first leg. It must be said Inter Milan were a totally different side to the one that turned up last week.
With a good draw Spurs can make it to the Final but Bale has to stay fit and avoid suspensions.
The North East giants got through with a ninety second minute goal by Cisse which sent the Geordie fans home happy. Alan Pardew and his side have found it hard going staying in this competition and playing well in the Premier League.
They will do well to reach the semi finals but again depends on the draw.
Once Chelsea were knocked out of the Champions League we waited to see if they were going to take this competition seriously and last night they showed they are. The European Champions must still be reeling from not been able to retain their title; but they are now one of the favourites to lift this trophy.
If it's a Spurs versus Chelsea Final then surely AVB will want to gave his old club a kick in the balls.
